Håkan Jonsson

Håkan joined FIPRA as a Special Adviser in May 2009. He is a consultant on European Affairs, and is a former State Secretary in the Swedish Government. Trained as a lawyer, Håkan has a solid background from different public sector positions. Håkan served for many years in the Swedish diplomatic service - including overseas postings at the Swedish Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia as well as the Swedish Permanent Representation to the EU, Brussels. In Brussels, during the first Swedish Presidency of the Council of ministers in 2001, Håkan chaired two central working parties on institutional affairs and inter-institutional relations. Subsequent to this, he has been an expert advisor in the Swedish Parliament (the Riksdag), responsible for the activities of the four Swedish Parliament Members of the European Convention from 2002 to 2003. Håkan was then Deputy Secretary General at the National Board of Trade of Sweden, with special task to lead the Swedish expert team on Internal Market policy. During this time he was i.a. responsible for the Swedish SOLVIT Centre and the Swedish analysis of the Services Directive. From 2006 to 2008, in the Swedish Centre-right Government of Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, Håkan was State Secretary for European Affairs at the Prime Minister's Office, working for European Affairs Minister Cecilia Malmström.  Hakan speaks Swedish, English, Danish, and French.
