John Prideaux

John joined Fipra as a Special Adviser for Rail Transport policies in 2007 and is currently working on Rail projects for Fipra. John is the Chairman of the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways and a former Chairman of Angel Trains, the rolling stock company that is the largest private investor in Britain’s Railways. John was awarded a CBE for services to rail transport.  A railway man who made his reputation from picking up, in 1986, a demoralized, loss-making InterCity and by 1989, turning it into a high quality service which was profitable.
In addition to Angel trains, John was Chairman of the tramway system in Manchester (then called Altram (Manchester)), and of Union Railways and John completed his British Rail career by establishing the route for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link.
